INDIANA NOV. 27, 1928 FUNERAL FOR GEORGE GROFT Aged Resident and Veteran of Civil War to Be Buried Wednesday Funeral services for George Groft. aged 87 years , whose death from the infirmities incident to advanced age occurred at his home on East Water street Monday morning, will be conducted tomorrow morning. There will be a solemn high mass of requiem in St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church at 9:30 o'clock. Interment will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery. The deceased was a son of John and Susannah Groct and was born, reared, and had always lived in Indiana. He had lived retired in Indiana for many years. He was possessed of a quiet disposition and was ever (attentive) to the needs of his friends and community. He had been a member of the Catholic Church since childhood. Mr. Groft was a veteran of the Civil War, being a member of Company E, One Hundred and Forty Eighth Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. He served in active work until he was wounded at the Battle of Gettysburg. He was honorably discharged at the end of the struggle. The deceased leaves these children: Charles Groft, of Indiana, J.C.
