Mr. James Hamilton of White Township died last saturday eve aged 82 years and nine months and five days. He was a most worthy and esteemed citizen. For many years he took considerable interest in public affairs and especially in everything that tended to the overthrow of slavery in our country. He was one of the pioneers of Abolition in the county, having in 1844 with twelve others voted for Mr. Birney upon and Abolition platform. He lived to see slavery abolished by bloodshed and war.
