We encourage links to the state and county table of contents ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *********** September 22, 1927 ************ Red Oak, Iowa Sept. 22, 1927 [Sample]Samuel Hamilton - Funeral services Samuel Hamilton, 73, who died Saturday noon at the Red Oak hospital, where he was taken in a semi-conscious condition, following a fall from a tree at the Henry Swiger home, and died shortly afterward where held Monday at 2:30 p.m. Mr. Hamilton was trimming the tree at the Swiger property, when he fell and sustained a fractured skull, a broken hip and internal injuries. Rev. Ira E. Carney, pastor of the Christian church, conducted the funeral services and paid eloquent tribute to the deceased. Relatives here from a distance to attend the funeral, included Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Parker, Peoria, Ill., and Mrs Helena Fisher, Omaha. "Sam" Hamilton, as he was familiarly known by his friends, was born in Indiana county, Pa., Sept. 2, 1853, and was married in Chicago in October, 1879, to Miss Selena Leroux. To this union three children were born. They are William, living in Texas; Mrs. Thomas Parker, Peoria, Ill., and Miss Edith, at home. Mr. Hamilton came here 39 years ago, and followed the occupation of a tinsmith. Besides his wife and children he leaves one sister, Mrs. Nancy Munshower, of Indiana, Pa. Mr. Hamilton was an honorable, upright citizen, and a good friend and neighbor, and many will mourn his passing.
