Mrs. Margaret Hennigh was born in Dauphin County, Pa., July 26, 1809; her 
maiden name was Margaret Peace (Pease).  In 1822 she was united in marriage to 
John Hennigh, and became the mother of nine children—six sons and three 
daughters.  Only two are now living, John Hennigh, Jr. of Punxsutawney, Pa., 
and Samuel Hennigh of Kansas City, Kan., her youngest born, with whom she has 
lived almost continuously since the death of her husband.  In 1861, her 
husband and one son offered their services to their country and later were 
followed by three other sons, leaving her at home with her youngest, then a 
mere lad.  It may truly be said of her that she offered her all on the altar 
of her country.  One son was killed at the Battle of the Wilderness, another 
son and the husband died soon after the war, it is believed from injuries 
received and exposure endured in the service.  Only one daughter grew to 
womanhood, Mary Jamison, and she was the mother of Milton M. Jamison who lives 
southeast of Louisburg.  Mrs. Hennigh (or” Aunt Peggy” as she was familiarly 
called by many beside relatives) died on the 20 th anniversary of the death of 
daughter, Mary.

In 1886 she came west stopping first in Benton County, Mo., afterward living 
in Allen and Miami counties in Kansas, until three and a half years ago when 
she removed with her son to Kansas City, Ks., where she died of heart disease 
May 5, 1896, not quite 87 years of age.  Although it was known that she had 
heart trouble and had been poorly for some time yet the death messenger came 
so suddenly it was a great shock to her friends.  She united with M.E. church 
many years ago in Pennsylvania and has ever since lived a consistent Christian 
life.  Her remains arrived from Kansas City, Wednesday, accompanied by her 
children, Mr. And Mrs. Samuel Hennigh, and Thursday, May 7, at 10:30 the 
funeral was conducted in the M. E. church by Rev. C. W. Bailey assisted by 
Rev. J. C. McElroy of the Presbyterian church.  The text chosen, Job 5:26 was 
without intention the same used at the funeral of her sister-in-law, the 
mother of D.L. Bell, by whose side she now rests in the Louisburg Cemetery, 
Miami County, Kansas.  Her name and dates are inscribed on the side of her 
sister-in-law’s tombstone.

Margaret Pease Hennigh's son, John P. Hennigh, Jr., is buried in the Covode 
Presbyterian Cemetery, North Mahoning.
