The daughter of Charles and Virginia Bell Woodford Shaw, she was born Jan. 22, 1912 in Phillipi, W. VA. Mrs. Jeffries was a member of the Women of the Moose Chapter 1260 for 32 years, Indiana VFW Post 1989 Ladies Auxiliary for 45 years and the Degree of Honor. She was an Indiana resident for the past 65 years. She was employed as a seamstress for Brody's, worked at Mohawk Lanes and retired as a seamstress for Campus Sportswear. Surviving are five daugthers and one son; Connie Rising, wife of Gene, Indiana; Sandy Shields, wife of Oliver, Laurel, Del.; Carol Everett, Indiana; Marie Vanderhoff, Dunkirk, N.Y.; Opal Lias, Indiana; and G.M. "Bud", husband of Imagene, Phoenix, Ariz.; 15 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Ruth Sleigh, California and Ruby Sleigh, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Jeffries, in 1980; her parents; five sisters: Bertha Brand, Molly Darkow, Lucelle Spellman, Louise and Nellie Shaw; and three brothers: Ernest,Emwood and Robert. Friends will be received from 3-6 and 7-9 p.m. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, where a funeral service will beheld at 1 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Randall L. Elsea officiating. Interment will be made in Oakland Cemetery, Indiana. The Women of the Moose will conduct a service at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
