     ELIZABETH (RITTENHOUSE) JEFFRIES, wife of the late George H. Jeffries, 
Indiana County Sheriff from 1912-1916, died in the family home at Rochester 
Mills yesterday at 5:15 p.m.
     She was born on March 23, 1869, the daughter of John and Margaret (Bhe) 
Rittenhouse.
     She was united in marriage to George H. Jeffries in 1889 and to this union 
was born the following children:  Edna Jamison of Dayton, PA; Nellie Myers 
(deceased), Tipton Pa.; Margaret Gray, Pittsburgh; Albert Jeffries, 
Blairsville; Robert Jeffries, Punxsutawney; Georgia Gardner, Wilkinsburg; 
Dollie Hess, Jerry W., Paul W., all of Indiana; Nola Lydick, Isabel Berry, 
Dorothy Little, Mary Pardee (deceased) and Harold, all of Rochester Mills.
     She is survived by two sisters, Clara Rittenhouse of Indiana,and Olive 
Smiley of Kane, Pa.  Forty-six grandchildren also survive.
     Friends will be received in the family home after 1 p.m. Thursday.  
Funeral services will be held at the residence in Rochester Mills on Friday, 
May 30, at 2 p.m. Interment in Pine Grove Cemetery.
