JEFFRIES, 72, of New Port Richey, Fla., died Monday, Aug 15, 1977 in Community Hospital, New Port Richey. A son of George H. and Elizabeth Rittenhouse Jeffries, he was born Nov. 15, 1904 in Rochester Mills. Mr. Jeffries was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church, Indiana; a life member of BPOE Chapter 931, UCT Council 598, both of Indiana. He was a past president of the Pennsylvania Sheriff's Association, a member of the National Sheriff's Association and was a past chairman of the Indiana County Republican Party. He served twenty years as sheriff of Indiana County. He was a resident of Indiana County his entire life moving to his present address six years ago. Surviving are his widow, Emily K. Jeffires, two daughters: Mrs. Thomas (Iva Mae) Murray, Mrs. William (Arlene) Sabota, both of Murray Hill, N.J.; three brothers: Jerry W., Indiana; Harold, Glen Campbell; Robert, Punxsutawney; four sisters: Mrs. Nola Lydick, Mrs. Dolly, Hess, both of Indiana; Mrs. Isabel Berry, Glen Campbell; Mrs. Georgia Gardner, Maryland; seven grandchildren. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Robinson-Lytle's, Indiana, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Elwood L. Stark officiating.
