JEFFRIES, 85, 320 Oakland Ave., Punxsutawney, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 1998 at Punxsutawney Area Hospital. Born June 24, 1912, in Indiana, he was the son of George H. Jeffries and Elizabeth M. Rittenhouse. On Nov. 19, 1936, he was married to Helen Bracken. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Punxsutawney, the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Jointers of America local 2274, and was a retired construction worker. Mr. Jeffries is survived by his wife; and five children: Mrs. Don (Diane) Means, DuBois; Mrs. David (Karen) Todd, Bethel Park; Robert Jeffries Jr., Marion Center; Paul Jeffries, Clearfield; Mrs. Jeffrey (Colleen) Fenton, DuBois; a sister, Georgia Gardner, Hanover; 11 grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren. He is preceded in death by eight sisters and four brothers. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney, where funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Robert Stradling officiating. Interment will be in Circle Hill Cemetery, Punxsutawney. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church in Mr. Jeffries' memory.
