He had been a sufferer from cancer for a number of years, and underwent an operation about three years ago, having a leg amputated. The deceased was widely known to this section and had numerous friends. He served three years in Co. B, 78th Pennsylvania Volunteers. Mr. Johnson was born in Connecticut in 1837 and came to this county in 1859. He always had a pleasant smile and ready word for all with whom he came in contact. He was a kind and generous neighbor, a devoted husband, and a kind and loving father. He had placed himself in care of his Savior and died with good will toward all mankind. He is survived by his wife; one son, Harvey, of Patchinville; and five daughters; Mrs. Emily Kerr, Mrs. Mollie Bennett and Mrs. Annie Kerr, of Cush Creek; Mrs. Nancy Kanarr of Friendsville, MD, and Miss Fannie, at home. The will of Bethuel Johnson, late of Montgomery township, was filed this week. He devises to his wife, Mary A. Johnson, his entire estate for her life; the residue at her death, if any, is devised to descendant's six legal heirs. The will is dated December 14, 1901.
