Jesse R. King
July 1923
     Jesse R. King, aged 68 years, a 
well-known resident of South Bend
for a number of years, died at the
home of his brother. James King, of
near Apollo, on Thursday night with
a complication of disease.  He was
born on the King homestead at South
Bend in February,1860, and spent
his boyhood days there, receiving his
early education in the schools of the
district.  He later became one of the
successful farmers of that commun-
ity, Mr. King, who was unmarried,
leaves the following brothers and
sisters: Mrs. Mary Ankeny, of In-
diana; Mrs. Kate Prugh, of Avon-
more; Mrs. Orpha Harbison, of In-
diana; Mrs. Jane King, at home, and 
James King, of near Apollo.  Funeral
services were held in the South Bend
Lutheran Chruch on Saturday after-
noon and burial was made in the
South Bend Cemetery.
