Kovac, 76, of McIntyre, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 1997, at Indi- ana Hospital. The son of Frank and Mary Unetic Kovac, he was born April 9, 1921, in Homer City. Mr. Kovac was a member of St. John Russian Orthodox Church, Black Lick, and a graduate of Ho- mer City High School. He was a retiree of Westinghouse Special Met- als Plant with 30 years of service. He belonged to the Westinghouse Clerks' Association and the Westing- house Veteran's Association of Blairsville. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific Theater. He was a member of the American Legion Post 57, Saltsburg, the Coal Run Veterans, C&Y Sportsmen Club, Tide Sportsmen Club and the Slo- vene National Benefit Society, Lodge 223 of Greensburg. Surviving are his beloved wife, Helen Protz Kovac, McIntyre; a son, Richard and wife Janet Medvide Kovac, McIntyre; a grandson, Jason Kovac; three sisters: Mary Ann Kellar, Ford City; Pauline Ander- son, Monroeville; Mrs. Joseph (Jen- nie) Noga, Homer City; a nephew, John Kovac, California; an aunt, Frances Medved; and other cousins and relatives in Canada and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Frank R. Kovac Jr.; stepfather George Penko, in 1983; a brother, Edward Kovac, in 1984. Friends will be received Saturday from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Bence-Mihalcik Funeral Home in Indiana where a Parastas service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John Russian Orthodox Church, with the Fr. Michael Senyo officiating. Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Indiana. The family requests memorial contributions be made to St. John Russian Orthodox Church building fund, Black Lick, Pa. 15716.
