Lyda, 63, of Main St., Black Lick, was fatally stricken Monday while at work. Born Nov. 26, 1907 in Black Lick, he was a son of Walter J. and Clara Kelly Lyda. Mr. Lyda was an excavating contractor; a member and trustee, and member of the administrative board of Black Lick Methodist Church. He was a member of Acacia Lodge No. 355 F and AM, Blairsville; Pittsburgh Consistory; Syria Shrine of Pittsburgh; past commander of VFW Post 5821, Blairsville; member of American Legion; BPOE No. 406 Blairsville. He served with the SeaBee's during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Rose Buzzinotti Lyda; two foster sons: William McLaren, and James McLaren, both of Blairsville RD 1; three sisters: Mrs. Charles (Rita) Thorne, of Coatesville; Mrs. Frank (Dorothy) Osborne, of San Clemente, Calif.: Mrs. James (Ethel) Hazlett, Palm Springs, Calif.; his step- mother, Mrs. Ada (Truby) Lyda, Black Lick. Friends will be received at Ferguson- Helm Funeral Home, Blairsville, from 7-9 p.m. this evening, and from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, Rev. Paul Wilson, officiating. Interment will be in Blairsville Cemetery. Masonic services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
