The daughter of Orton James and Mabel Armstrong Cartwright, she was born Jan. 16, 1906, at the Walnut Row Farm in Pandora, Putnam County, Ohio. Mrs. Lovell was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Indiana, and a former member of the Hazelet United Methodist Church for 60 years. She was a resident of Indiana County since 1913, graduated from Indiana State Normal School in 1926 and Indiana State Teachers College in 1930. On Nov. 26, 1931, she married William C. Lovell. She was a teacher at the junior-se- nior high schools in Clymer, Cherry Tree, Latrobe and Purchase Line areas. Mrs. Lovell was also a member of the United Methodist Women; Crown of Charlemagne, through di- rect descent of the Emporer; Past Regent; James LeTort Chapter of Daughters of the American Colo- nists; New Century Club, Indiana; Order of the Eastern Star, Indiana Chapter 299; Historical and Genea- logical Society of Indiana County; Society of the Descendents of the Colonial Clergy; First Families of Putnam County, Ohio; Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority; Indiana Alumni Unit, IUP; Armstrong Clan, Briery- shaw, Scotland; St. Andrews Society of Indiana; AARP 552; Retired School Employees of Pennsylvania State and Indiana County; and Twolick Valley Rod and Gun Club. Surviving are her daughter-in- law, Elaine Lovell Adelsberger, West Newton; two granddaughters, Carol, wife of Michael T. Mavilla, Bethel Park, and Peggy, wife of James M. Jansing, Pleasant Hills; two great-grandchildren, Jaclyn Mitchell Jansing and Kylie Noel Jansing; one brother, James B. Cartwright, Charleston, S.C.; two nieces, two nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, in 1974; one son, William Cartwright Lovell, in 1982; two brothers, Donald and New- ton. Friends will be received from 1-4 p.m. Sunday at the Bence-Mihalcik Funeral Home, Indiana. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity United Methodist Church, Indiana, with the Rev.
