She was born Nov. 16, 1907, in Cool Spring Township, Mercer County, the daughter of Almond L. and Anna Powers McCullough. Her greatest joys in life were her family and friends and giving of herself with her quick wit and generous spirit. Mrs. Lowman lived in Mercer County until moving to Indiana in 1942 where she was a member of the Graystone Presbyterian Church. She was a Sunday School teacher, the Upteens Youth Group leader, and a member of the Bertha Sutherland Circle and the Kings Daughters Group. She and her husband were longtime dairy farmers in Indiana and she taught elementary school special education in the Homer-Center School District. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and friend. Surviving are one daughter, Shirley M. Balint and husband William, Indiana; one son, Edward F. Allen and wife Audrey, Indiana; one sister, Margaret Cornell, Sharpsville, Pa.p; 10 grandchildren: Sherry Vanderneck and Beth Palilla, Indiana; Maura Laughlin, Cary, N.C.; Margaret Shelhamer, Richardson, Texas; William Balint III, Indiana; Karen Cameron, Bridgeville, Pa.; Christine Raizen, Hollywood, Fla.; Edward F. Allen IV, Fort Collins, Colo.; Paul J. and Audrey Allen, Indiana; 25 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul Lowman, who died in 1979; two sisters, Mary McKenna and Mildred Perschka; one granddaughter, Jane Allen; and one great-grandson, Michael V. Palilla. Friends will be received from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Robinson-Lytle's in Indiana where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Dr. Robert L. Larson Jr., will officiate and intermentwill be in Greenwood Cemetery in Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Indiana Free Library, 845 Philadelphia Street, Indiana, PA 15701.
