Vitals: Obits: McAllister, Mary Jane Hamilton, Indiana Co, PA SUBJECT: Mary Jane Hamilton-McAllister Obit SUBMITTER: Vernon Cook EMAIL: Vernon9323@aol.com DATE: May 18, 2000 PASSWORD> SURNAMES: BARR, HAMILTON, McALLISTER Died. 28 July 1906 Mrs. H. R. McAllister on Sabbath evening at eight:ten o’clock. Mrs. McAllister suffered a stroke of paralysis the last of April and has gradually wasted away, no hopes were given for her recovery from the first, but everything medical skill and loving care could do was hers to the end. Mary J. Hamilton was born in Indiana county, PA, September 9, 1832, married Hugh R. McAllister March 4, 1862, came to the old home place in St. Clair County, Mo., in August 1869, where she lived continuously. She united with the Presbyterian church when a young girl and has been a most consistent worker in all lines of church work especially Sunday school. No day was too warm or stormy but she was in attendance and had her family there too. Her home was always open to all ministers, even when not able to, in justice to herself, entertain any one. Very few families of the older residents of the neighborhood but have been blessed by her soothing in sickness and death, many grown men and women testifying to her cheering words and Christian counsel during her illness and at her death. She had warm greeting and encouraging words for all. She will be most missed by her family as she was a devoted wife and mother. She was brave and hopeful in her many trials. Sabbath morning was the first time her children ever came home that she was not there to welcome them. Her burial service was conducted in the Presbyterian church in Vista on Monday evening by Rev. W.D. Sidman of Osceola in a very impressive manner, many friends from Vista and Osceola showing their respect by their presence and beautiful flowers. May we all live such a brave, helpful life and die such a trustful death. She leaves a broken hearted old husband and five loving children. G.A. Vannice Mary Jane HAMILTON was the daughter of John A. Hamilton and Jane Barr of Indiana county, Pa ----------------------------------------------------- USGENWEB ARCHIVES NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free genealogical information on the Internet, data may be freely used for personal research and by non-commercial entities as long as this message remains on all copied material.
