McCreery. Mr. I.N. McCreery, at one time a resident of Indiana and a native of Indiana county, died at Pasadena, California, June 30, aged 72 years. Mr. McCreery was a son of the late Robert and Mary [Nancy-ed.] Dushane McCreery, whose home for many years was near Mahoning church, East Mahoning township. He enlisted in the Signal Corps when 16 years old. His wife, nee Hamill, a cousin of the Hamills near town, died four years ago. Three daughters survive him. Of the family of ten children born and raised at Mahoning, two brothers survive, Rev. W.H., of Loveland, Col., and Ebenezer, of San Diego, Cal. Mr. McCreery has a number of cousins in Indiana county. Among whom are Mrs. Jennie Dodds, of Indiana and Howard McCreery, of Marion Center. [obituary has hand-written date "1918"] [following is another obituary for the same individual]: NEWTON McCREERY. The death of Newton McCreery occurred at his home in Pasadena, California, on July 2, 1918, aged 70 years. His wife died several years ago. He is survived by four daughters and these brothers: W.H. McCreery, of Loveland, Col., Robert McCreery, of Moundsville, W. Va., and E.H. McCreery, of California. They are natives of East Mahoning township, this county. They went west in their youth. Newton McCreery was a lumber dealer.
