We encourage links to the state and county table of contents. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Reprinted through the courtesy of the Indiana Gazette Maude Phipps Maude LaRue Hoover Phipps, 90, of Homer City, formerly of Aultman, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 1997, at the Indian Haven Nursing Home. The daughter of Ulysses Grant and Ruie Huston Hoover, she was born on March 24, 1907 in Rayne Township, Indiana County. Mrs. Phipps had lived all of her life in the Indiana County area and was a member of the Bethel Presby- terian Church and the Missionary Society. She belonged to Una Rebek- ah Lodge 292 and the Past Noble Grands Club; Degree of Honor Pro- tective Association; the AARP; was a life member of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees (PASR); the Pennsylvania State Education Association; PSEA Re- tired; was past president of the Indiana County Reading Council and an associate member of the UWMA 3548. Mrs. Phipps taught in the Indiana County Schools for 38 years before retiring from the Apollo-Ridge School District in 1971. Surviving is one son, John G. "Jack" Phipps and wife,Peggy Henderson Bhipps, Homer City; two granddaughters, Suzanne Fennell, Mechanicsburg and Kathy Cavalier and husband, Donald, Homer City; three great-grandsons, Michael Cav- alier and wife, Carie, Indiana; Ben Cavalier, Homer City; and Eric Fennell, Mechanicsburg; and sever- al nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John W. Phipps, who died in 1963; three brothers and six sisters. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Robinson- Lytle's in Indiana, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Robert W. Goossen will offici- ate and interment will be in Oakland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Bethel Presbyterian Church, Indiana RD 1, Indiana, PA 15701.
