He was reared to manhood in the vicinity of the Purchase Line and attended the Purchase Line academy. Forty years ago he located in Colorado and during the last 30 years resided near Longmont where he owned and conducted an extensive wheat, sugar beet and corn ranch for many years.He was the founder of Rinn, a town located on his acres and named after him and here he conducted a general store and was postmaster for several years. He was a leader in all worthwhile community activities and erected and largely contributed to the support of the Rinn community church.Although he had retired from active work in recent years he supervised the management of his extensive farm to the last. He was in his usual health when he was stricken with an attack of apoplexy and died within a few hours. The deceased was one of pioneer residents of the Longmont section where he was admired for his many fine qualities of citizenship. For 34 years he was a deacon of the Longmont Baptist church and for 31 years he had served as superintendant of the Sabbath school of the congregation. Two years ago he visited this county and just before he passed away had completed plans to return east to visit relatives here and at other points in the county. In 1991(sic - pprobably should be 1891) he was married to Miss Mary Furman, a native of the Purchase Line section, who survives with two brothers, James, of Berthoud, and Louis, of Denver Colo. The funeral services were conducted in the Longmont Baptist church and interment followed in the cemetery at that place.
