Mrs. Roxie Mae Slagle died May 15, in the Latrobe Hospital, two hours after
being injured in an automobile accident. Born July 5, 1908, in Juneau, daughter
of Isaac E. Winters and the late Margaret Airgood Winters, she was the wife of
Arthur Slagle and had lived for the past 14 years in Blairsville, where she was
a member of the Methodist Church. In addition to her husband and her father,
both of Blairsville, she is survived by two sons: John Heltzenrater, of
Emporium, and Walter, of Leechburg; a daughter, Mrs. Shirley Mae George of
Savage, Md.; four brothers: Paul Winters, of Middletown, Charles Winters, of
Blairsville, Perry Winters of Cleveland, Ohio, and Milton Winters, of Miami,
Fla.; four sisters: Mrs. Fannie Postlewaite of Apollo, Mrs Lottie Yount, Home,
Pa., Mrs. Martha Winwood, Akron, Ohio, and Mrs. Sara Forsha of Blairsville; and
seven grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Shoemaker Funeral Home,
Blairsville until Tuesday, May 18 at 2:30 p.m. when services will be conducted
by the Rev John N. Hempstead. Interment will be in Blairsville cemetery.
