Watt Smith, formerly of this place, but for three years past a resident of Johnstown, died at his home in that place, of pleurisy, on last Wednesday. His remains were brought to this place and interred in Oakland Cemetery on Friday. Mr. Smith served five years in the Regular Army and three years in Co. E, Eleventh Pennsylvania Reserves, during the service in which he received a bullet in his head, which he carried to his death, He was an active member of the Grand Army of the Republic and possessed of a kind and sympathetic disposition. He was a nephew of Jos. B. Smith, of the Messenger.
