Born in Rockview, Pa., on July 7, 1938, he was Ule son of John F. and Ruth Kerstetter Shaffer. He was a self-employed mechanic and welder and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Surviving are his wife, Loretta M. Quick Shaffer; one son, John F. Shaffer, B)airsville; two daughters, Mrs. Anthony (Sueanne) Keller, Warren, Ohio; and Mrs. Kelly Frew, Blairsville; eight grandchildren; six brothers, Lester, Black Lick; Wil liam, North Tonawanda, N.Y.; Rob- ert, Newport News, Va.; Kenneth, Waynesville, Md.; Carl Rebon, Rey- noldsville, and Joseph, Fitchburg, Mass., and one sister, Norma Cou- tal, Dracut, Mass. He was preceded in death by his parents. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at the Shoemaker Funeral Home in Blairs- ville at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Ronald A. Wallace will officiate.
