Maffeo Silvestri, 82, 129 Beatty St., Washington Town- ship, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 1997, at her home following a lengthy illness. The daughter of Massimo and Mary Gallinatti Maffeo, she was born May 5, 1915, in Apollo. Mrs. Silvestri lived most of her life in Washington Township. She was employed by the Schenley Distillery from 1933 until 1941, and worked as a cafeteria supervisor for the Kiski Area School System for 19 years, retiring in the late 1970s. She was a member of the St. James Roman Catholic Church, Apollo, and the church's Rosary Confraternity. She is survived by her husband, Frank C. Silvestri, to whom she was married 59 years; one daughter, Bonita McGraw, Monroeville; one son, William Silvestri, Cleveland, Ohio; two brothers: Joseph Maffeo, Vandergrift, and Raymond Maffeo, Dearborn, Mich.; two sisters, Mary Allera, Leechburg; and Pearl Fis- sore, Bairdford, Pa., five grandchil- dren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, John R. Maf- feo; and one sister, Rose Maffeo. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Curran- Shaffer Funeral Home, Apollo. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the St. James Roman Catholic Church, Apollo, with the Father Ronald Simboli officiating. Interment will be made at the St. Gertrude Catholic Cemetery, Van- dergrift. Memorial contributions can be made to the St. James Church, Apollo, or the Forbes Hospice, 500 Finley Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15206-9920.
