Born Dec. 6, 1924 in Indiana, PA, he was the son of Clark and Sarah Bredlinger Strong. Mr. Strong was a lifetime resident of Indiana County. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed by Gene Jones Trucking. He was a lifetime member of the Church of the Brethren, VFW Post 1989, American Legion Post 493 and a member of the UMWA No. 1257. He was a veteran, having served our country in the Navy. Mr. Strong will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. Surviving are his wife, Ruby Fairman Strong, whom he wed on July 18, 1946; three sons: Larry and his wife Linda of Tyrone, Bill and his wife Rebecca of Clyde and Bruce and his wife Roseann of New Florence; two daughters: Cheryl Semsick and her husband Dennis of Nolo and Karen Hritz and her husband Bill of Indiana; one sister, Elnora Strong of Taylorsville; two brothers: Wendell of Brush Valley and Phillip of Taylorsville; nine grandchildren: Matthew and Meaghan Strong, Mandi Ramsey, Melissa and Mark Strong, Robert and Randy Strong and Sarah and Emily Hritz; six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, grandson Scott Andrew Strong, brother David, sisters Dorothy, Margaret and infant twin sisters. Friends will be received on Thursday, June 22 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home, 898 Old Rte. 119N, Indiana. Funeral Service will be conducted on Friday morning at 11 a.m. in the Lefdahl Chapel with Rev. Horace Derr officiating. Interment will follow in the German Luthern Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the VNA/Hospice, 850 Hospital Road, Indiana, PA 15701. Tyrone Daily Herald, June 21, 2006
