Austin SHELDON, known to many as the Pike county hermit, was found dead on Friday, the 30th, on top of one of the mountains in a ten-foot snow drift. He was found near the entrance to a cave where he had lived for over forty years, nine miles from Dingman's village. A brother and sister, from Connecticut and wealthy, attempted a year ago to get him to return to his friends to no avail. Mr. Sheldon disappeared on the day his wife was buried and was not heard of until last year. Before moving to the cave, he said he wandered the woods of Connecticut, Vermont, and New York for five years. Sheldon was an educated man, his family being one of the leading ones in Connecticut. MISCELLANEOUS George SEIFERT, of Etna borough, was on trial last week for the murder of his brother, Charles, on the 10th of February last. He pleaded guilty of voluntary manslaughter and was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment in the Western Penitentiary.
