On the 4th inst., by the Rev. A. McElwaine, MR. JOHN HILL, of Shelocta, to MISS MARGARET RANEY of Plumville, Indiana county, Pa. --On the 20th ult., by the Rev. Dick, MR. PETER SUTTON of this borough, to MISS JANE MECHLING, of Kittanning. 18 November 1856 AN OLD CITIZEN GONE. --Several weeks ago there died, about three miles from this borough, MR. JAMES STANKARD, probably the oldest citizen in this county. His years numbered nearly one hundred. Until within the past year, he walked frequently from his residence to Indiana, to attend, church, and at other times he came on business. He was fond of reading, and the last time we saw him, about two years ago, his sight, though fast declining, was still reasonably good, considering his advanced age. --He came to this county more than forty years ago, and continued a citizen thereof until the day of his death. MARRIED. On the 6th inst., by Rev. P. Sahm, MR. NICHOLAS BARRON, to MISS MARY ( ) BARKLEY, both of this county. DIED. On Thursday last, MR. JAMES TEMPLETON, of this borough, aged 46 years ( ). --On Saturday morning, inst., in (this) Borough, MR. J. DAVIS GREENHILL, aged 28 years. 25 November 1856 -none 2 December 1856 DIED. On Friday morning last, in ( ) township, MR PHILIP RICE, aged 84 years and 3 months. The deceased was a good citizen, an honest, upright man, and leaves a large circle of friends to whom he had long endeared himself by his many virtues. --WILSON KNOTT, ESQ., Postmaster of Blairsville, died on the 24th ult., aged 66 years. 9 December 1856 MARRIED. On the 2d inst., by the Rev Peter Sahm, MR. JACOB ALLWINE to MRS. FANNY HERSHBERGER, both of this county. DIED. On last Friday, in the borough, MR. JAMES ADAMS, a most worthy citizen, aged about 74 years. --On Sunday, the 30th ult., JEMIMA, daughter of DANIEL AND SUSAN DONCASTER, aged one year, 1 months and 18 days. 16 Decmber 1856 FATAL AFFRAY. --Our paper last week had gone to press when we learned that a man named HENRY PALMER had been lodged in jail, charged with having caused the death of a man named GRANT, near Blairsville, by inflicting wounds with a knife. As the matter will be investigated in Court, we forbear giving rumors or making comments. MARRIED. On the 2nd of October, byt he Rev. John Carothers, MR. H.K. DILTS to MISS N.J. ALLISON, both of Indiana county. DIED. On the 8th inst., MARGARET JANE, daughter of ROBERT AND JANE ELIZBAETH ADAMS, aged 1 year, 7 months and 24 days. 23 December 1856 THE STORM. --The storm on Sunday a week did considerable damage to buildings and fences in this vicinity. --The houses of SAMUEL HIGHLAND na dJOHN KAUFMAN, and the stables of MATTHEW RAY, ROBERT LYTLE and SAMUEL KAUFMAN, and the porch of CHRISTIAN KAUFMAN, were unroofed, and on many farms the fences were blown down. --In this place the storm was violent, but no serious damage done. AT HOME. MR. JAMES M'CREA, son of THOMPSON M'CREA, ESQ., returned a few days ago from Kansas. He reports that many of the settlers, who are now in limited circumstances, are going with their families to Iowa, to obtain employment and procure the means of subsistence for the winter, with the intention of returning to Kansas in the spring. MARRIED. On the 11th inst., by the Rev. P. Sahm, (at the house of GEORGE ORNER near STrongstown), MR. JOHN A STOPHEL to MISS NANCY E. ORNER. --On the 19th ult., by the Rev. Kirkpatrick, MR. JACOB L. WOLF, to MISS MARGARET JONES, both of this county. DIED. In Brushvalley township, on the 11th inst., MR. ISAAC GRIFFITH, aged 86 years. 30 December 1856 MARRIED. On the 18th inst., by Samuel Rice, Esq., MR. GEORGE DONAHE to MISS REBECCA ANN ALLISON of Green township. --On the 10th inst., by Rev. F. Orr, MR. JOHN KUNKLE, JR., to MISS URSULA M. BAKER of Center township.
