Indiana Messenger, Indiana PA, January 27, 1897 MARRIED Will H. BRACKEN, of Washington Twp., to Martha ANDERSON, on January 21, 1897. The wedding was held at the home of the bride's aunt, Miss Susan SMITH. NOTE: Some of the death items are rather disturbing. DEATHS Mrs. Margaret KUNKLE, of near Newville, was fatally burned on Sunday last. She was 87 years of age and Sunday morning was alone in the room when she was taken suddenly ill and fell forward into the fire. When discovered the upper part of her body was burned almost to a crisp and death resulted in a few moments. It is thought she had an attack of heart disease as she made no outcry when she fell. She was living with her daughter, Mrs. Lowry JOHNSTON. The funeral took place on Monday. John STEWART, of Homer City, met a terrible death on a portable saw mill on the farm of W. B. GEORGE, in Center township. There were several men on and about the mill when the accident happened, but no one witnessed the sad affair. Mr. Stewart was working about the mill and it appears that he slipped and fell against the rapidly revolving saw and the entire top of his head was cut off. His death was almost instantaneous. He was a young man, unmarried, and of very good repute in his community. Richard MCWILLIAMS, age 17, hanged himself at Irwin last Friday. No cause is assigned for the rash act. Mary A. SIMPSON, widow of the late Andrew Simpson, of the West End, died suddenly of heart disease at her home on Sabbath morning last. She complained of a pain about her heart and sat down and immediately expired. Her husband was killed by a runaway horse in Blacklick a few years ago. She was a daughter of Mr. Alex. DICK, of Brushvalley twp., and the remains were interred there on Monday. She was 59 years of age. Mary MCDONALD died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. R. A. LACKEY, at Peabody, Kansas, on January 23, at the age of 85 years. She was the widow of the late Samuel MCDONALD, of Brushvalley twp., and the mother of Mrs. W. T. WILSON, of this place. Edna DICK, the daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. George DICK, of Cherryhill Twp., died at the age of 13 years on Thursday night last. Interment was on Saturday. Services conducted by Rev. Wylie. Henry WALTEMIRE, of Cherryhill, died on Tuesday morning at the age of 69 years. Cause of death was pneumonia. Charlotte FISHER, the little daughter of John S. and Hapsie FISHER, of the Third Ward, died this morning at the age of 11 months and 14 days, of capillary bronchitis. She was the grandchild of Mrs. Margaret MILLER, of near Plumville. The funeral will be tomorrow.
