All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/indiana/ ************************************************ Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by Romayne Shay McMahon Indiana County Will Book I, page 13 Written: September 29, 1808 Recorded: February 6, 1809 In the name of God Amen, I, James Wilkins of the Township of Centre in the County of Indiana and State of Pennsylvania being weak in body but of a sound and perfect mind and memory, blessed be God for the same, do make and publish this my last well and testament in manner and form following that is to say - First I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Jean Wilkins the one half of all my movable property. I do also give and bequeath to my daughter Nancy Laughlin the other half of my movable property. I also give and bequeath to my three eldest sons James Wilkins, John Wilkins and Andrew Wilkins the sum of one dollar besides of what they have already got to be paid out of my real estate which several legacies I will and order to be paid to the said respective legatees after my decease and the decease of my wife Jean. fourth, I further give and devise unto my two youngest sons William Wilkins and Thos. Wilkins all that my messuage or tenement situate lying and being in the Twp., Co. and state aforesaid and bounded by lands of James Wilkins. James Simpson and others and whereon I now live to be equally divided between them. I further give and devise unto my youngest son Thomas Wilkins sixty-four acres of land situate and lying in Toby township in the county of Armstrong and state aforesaid whereon William Adams did live being part of a tract I hold in Co. with Charles Campbell, Esqr., and lastly I hereby appoint Wm. Wilkins and Thomas Wilkins my sole executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the twenty ninth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eight. (1808) James Wilkins {Seal} Signed sealed published and declared by the above named James Wilkins to be his last will and testament in the presence of us who have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses in the presence of the testator William Hamilton and Joseph Moorhead - Be it remembered that on the sixth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and nine (1809) personally appeared before me James McLain, Register for the Probate of Wills and granting letters of administration in and for the county of Indiana, William Hamilton and Joseph Moorhead, the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing instrument of writing and being duly sworn depose and say that they were personally present and saw James Wilkins the testator set his signature and acknowledge the same as and for his last will and testament and at the same time they believed him to be of sound mind and memory and that the names thereto subscribed as witnesses, vis: Wm. Hamilton and Joseph Moorhead are of their own proper handwriting. Sworn before James McLain, Register.
