Mills, merchant of Thompsontown, Perry county, aged about twelve years, was burned to death by trying to make fire with coal oil in a cooking stove on Tuesday. The mother and eldest daughter were absent a few miles, visiting a friend, and the father in his store, about a quarter of a mile distant. The only parties at home were the little girl and younger brother, and a neighbor's child. After she had washed the midday meal dishes, she was about to make fire to boil potatoes for the evening meal, and, it appears took the coal oil can to hasten the fire. The poor little girl only survived a couple of hours, in agony indescribable.
