He is survived by three children, two daughters, Nellie O. Patterson, wife of the District Attorney John J. Patterson and Miss Mary Elizabeth North and one son James C. North all of the twin boroughs: two brothers, Hon. Herman H. North, Bradford, Pa., and Caleb North, Washington D.C. and two sisters, Mrs. Fountain W. Crider, Bellefonte Pa., and Mrs. Mary Jacobs, Philadelphia, -------- -(unreadable) Deceased was born Oct. 29, 1847 in Turbett township, this county, and was the third son of James North and Matilda Strouse. He was married in 1869 to Olivia Jacobs, who died about 12 years ago. W.S. North has been a resident of Mifflin, practically all his life, succeeding his father as agent of the Pennsylvania R.R. Co. at Mifflin who was the first agent established by the R.R. at that point. He also succeeded to the coal and lumber business of his father, conducting the business under the same name, later taking his son, James C. North, into partnership. In the early 90's the deceased served a term as county treasurer. He was director of the Mifflin bakery and a lifelong member of the Mifflintown Presbyterian church. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 18. from the house conducted by Rev. J. C. McConnell and internment in the Presbyterian cemetery.
