RICHARDS, Wife of Andrew Richards, of Jermyn died Saturday night in her home on Jefferson Ave. following a 2 day's illness. Born in England 77 years ago, she has lived for the last 35 years in town, where she was held in high esteem by everyone. She was a member of the P. M. church. Surviving her are her husband, one son Martin Richards, also of Jermyn: 3 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. One Brother Thomas CURNOW of Nantatuck, Conn., also survives. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon with services in the house at 2:30 o'clock. The Rev. Schooles of the P. M. Church officiated. Burial was in the family plot in Shadyside Cemetery, Jermyn. The Funeral of Miss Mary Hosie, who died Thursday afternoon in her home on Hudson St. was held Monday Morning in the Sacred Heart Church, Jermyn. At 9:30 o'clock a high mass of requiem was celebrated by the Rev. John Schimmel, of Carbondale. At the offertory of the mass, Miss Mary KENNEDY sang an "Ave Marie" and as the cortege left the church "Jerusalem My Happy Home." Burial was in St. Rose Cemetery, Carbondale. The Misses Eleanor MELLOW and Annamae KENNEDY spent Monday in Carbondale. Robert Mahady and Patrick Burke, of Archbald, were callers here Sunday night. The Rev. Thomas JORDEN, who has been ill in the Mercy Hospital, Scranton, has resumed his duties as Pastor of the Sacred Heart Church, Jermyn, and is very much improved in health. Dr. Leonard McGOVERN, of the state hospital, Scranton, visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. D.J. McGovern, over the week-end AVERY FUNERAL The funeral of the late Helen AVERY, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Avery, was held from the family residence Monday afternoon at 2:30 and was very largely attended by relatives and friends. Rev. G. V. McAllister of Methodist Episcopal Church, of which the deceased was also a member, officiated. Many beautiful floral offerings completely hid the remains and were carried by former chums of the deceased: Elsie LANGMAN, Florence MCLOW (could be MELOW), Helen MORCOM, Doris WATERS, Gladys DOUTHWAITE, Verna NICHOLS, Mrs. Walter PHILLIPS, Mrs. Emerson CHAMPION, Mrs. Harry LEE, and Mrs. Patrick HORAN. The M.E. Church choir sang three favorite hymns of the deceased: "Someday the silver cords will break", "Beautiful isle of somewhere", and "It is well with my soul." The pallbearers were cousins of the deceased: Carl AVERY, Merle AVERY, Garfield McCLEAN, James WHEELER, Robert NORRIS and Arthur FERGUSON. Interment was made in Shadyside cemetery MISS ALICE JENKINS BRIDE LAUNCH PEACE NEGOTIATIONS Olyphant, Jan 8--Miss Alice JENKINS of School Street, last evening became the bride of John Rees, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. REES of 747 Pleasant Ave. Peckville, in the parsonage of the Hickory Street Baptist Church. Rev. Hayden Howells performed the ceremony. The couple were attended by Miss. Florence Jenkins, a sister of the bride and Emerson CHAMPION of Jermyn. The bridal party and immediate families enjoyed a supper tendered the couple by the groom's father, J. S. Rees, in hotel Casey. Mrs. Rees is a graduate of the Olyphant High School, and Mid-Valley Hospital Nurses' Training School. The Groom is assistant foreman for the Rees Coal Company.
