CAHOON (died 10/17/1939) Over the greater part of the career of Stephen A. Cahoon as a printer in Scranton it had been the custom of newspapers to conduct what were then known as job printing establishments, now spoken of most frequently as commercial printing offices. At one time the Times had such an establishment and Mr. Cahoon was the general foreman. Our daily newspapers have long since quit the commercial side of the game, devoting themselves to newspaper publishing exclusively. Mr. Cahoon, as journeyman and master printer had experiences in the mechanical side of newspaper making as well as in commercial printing. All told, he had been associated with the printing industry for more than half a century, putting in most of his years in Scranton and nearby printing establishments. Naturally he saw many changes in the industry and as a wide-awake printer kept pace with these changes. His death recalls his long and worth-while career as workman and employer in the community.
