James McDonnell, who was admitted to the hospital on Monday, the 6th inst., suffering from a crush of the left leg, requiring amputation, a severe lacerated wound of the right arm and internal injuries the nature of which were not known at the time, died at half-past 10 o'clock yesterday morning. Several days ago his condition changed for the worse and he continued to sink rapidly until the end came. He was a Catholic in religion and the rites of the church were administered to him before he lost consciousness. The man was 23 years of age and at the time of the accident was employed by the contractors who are grading in the vicinity of the Gallitzin tunnel. On the day in question he was thrown in front of a car which jumped the track and sustained the injuries resulting in his death. He came to this section from Dunmore, Lackawanna county, where his parents reside. The remains were given in charge of Undertaker B. J. Lynch, who prepared the body for burial and sent it to Dunmore on the 6.20 train last evening. The body was in charge of a brother, who was present when he died.
