Heart disease is believed to have been the cause of death. Deceased was well known throughout the valley and his numerous friends will be grieved to learn of his demise. He was 78 years of age. The funeral will be held Monday afternoon at 2:30 oíclock. Services will be conducted at the house and interment will be made in the Marcy Cemetery Additional Comments: Silas was born on December 20, 1825 in warren County, New Jersey. He was the son of Jonathan and Rachel (Wilson) Randall ========== Scranton Republican from the Scranton Republican 20 August 1902, PG 6 Scranton Public Library Old Forge The death of Silas Randall on Saturday morning , Aug 16, removed another of the few remaining old settlers of Old Forge. Mr. Randall was born in Harmony, Warren County, New jersey, but removed with his father when only seven years of age to Kingston and has been a resident of Luzerne and Lackawanna counties since that time. More that 50 years ago in 1846, he came to Old Forge and has been one of the boroughs representative citizens. For a period of fourteen years he was Forman of the Raynor power mills, and has been until within the past years an energetic, hard-working man. He was married in 1854 to Miss Elizabeth Gress and the were the parents of seven children. Rosella, Mrs. George Brown, Ann, Mrs. J.H. Davenport, Charles, Johnson, Zurry, Warren and Christopher and Silas, all of whom survive except Christopher and Silas. There are also 22 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Mrs. Randall died Aug. 12, 1900. Mr. Randall was a life-long Republican and belonged to the Masons. The funeral services were conducted from the house and internment made in Marcy cemetery. Rev J.H.
