Slutter, 82, died at home after a short illness on Monday. He was born in Belfast, PA. and lived in Rockaway Township since 1961, after moving there from Scranton, PA. He retired in 1973 after 12 years as a postal clerk for the Dover Post Office. He retired as a major in 1944 in the U.S. Army, having served in World War II. He had been in the army for 23 years. He was a member of the Trinity Congregational Church of Scranton, PA. He was a member of the American Legion, West Scranton, Post 675 and also of the American Association of Retired Persons. He is survived by one son, Carl G. of Reisterstown, Md.; one daughter, Mrs. Ann Myers of Rockaway Township; four sisters, Mrs. Helen Lewis, Scranton, Pa.; Mrs Marion Jones of Toms River; Mrs. Anna Lloyd of Tunkhannock, Pa.; and Mrs. Ruth Savage of Scranton, Pa; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Davies and Jones Funeral Chapel, 135 S. Main Avenue, Scranton, Pa. Local arrangements are by the Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 Route 10, Randolph.
