All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/lancaster/ _______________________________________________ 3 acres, 88 perches in E Nantmeal Written: April 1, 1814 Recorded: May 2, 1814 Deed or Indenture of Henry LANDIS, ex ux to Frederick Hauch [sic Houck]4/1/1814 This Indenture made this first day of April in the year of our Lord 1814 by and between Henry LANDIS of Caernarvon Township in Lancaster County in the State of Pennsylvania and Mary, his wife, of the one part, and Frederich Houck of E Nantmeal Township, Chester County and State of Pennsylvania of the other part WITNESSETH that the said Henry LANDIS and Mary, his wife, for and in consideration of the sum of $88.25 money of the United States to them in hand well and duely paid by the said Jacob HOUCK, at or before the ensealing and delivery hereof, the receipt of whereof they do hereby acknowledge, and thereof acquired, and forever discharge the said Frederick HOUCK, his heirs,executors, administrators by these presents, have granted, bargained, sold, aliened, eufeoffed, released and confirmed, and by these presents, do bargain, sell alien eufeoff and release and confirm unto the said Frederick HOUCK, his heirs and assigns all that certain messuage of land situate in East Nantmeal Township, aforesaid, bounded and described as follows, viz: BEGINNING at a dead tree in a line of Warwick Company and thence by the same South 88degrees abd 1/2 West 42 perches and 7/10 to a stake and stones and thence by the land of the said Henry Landis, the following courses, viz: shouth 33 degrees and 1/2 East 16 perches to a stake, thence north 88 degrees and thence 34 perches and 8/10 to a post and stones, thence north one and 1/2 degree west 13 perches and 7/10 to the place of beginning containing 3 acres 82 perches strict measure, it being part of a tract of land which Philip COSNER and Catharine his wife by deed executed and recorded in the Recorder's office for Chester County in Book N2 Vol37, page 214, did grant and confirm unto the said Henry LANDIS, his heirs, and assigns in fee simple, TOGETHER with all and singular other, the house, outhouses, buildings, barns, stables, ways, woods, water courses, rights, liberties, priviledges and appurtenances whatsoever there and belonging or in anywise appertaining and the reversions and remainder, rents,dues, profits thereof and also all the estate right, title, interests, property, claims and demands whatsoever of them, the said Henry LANDIS and Mary his wife, in law or equity or otherwise howsoever of in to out of the same, TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the said messuage piece or parcel of 3 acres and 82 perches of land be the same more or less, hereditaments and premises hereby granted or mentioned or intended so to be with the appurtenance unto the said Frederick HOUCK, his heirs and assigns forever, and the said Henry LANDIS for himself, his heirs, executors, and admiistrators doth covenant, promise, grant and agree to and with the said Frederick HAUGH his heirs and assigns by these presents that he the said Henry LANDIS and his heirs the said above mentioned and described messuage or tenement and tract of land herditaments and premises hereby granted or mentioned or intended so to be with the appurtenances unto the said Frederick HAUCK, his heirs and assigns against him the said Henry LANDIS and his heirs and against all andevery other person or persons whomsoever lawfully claiming or to claim by from or under him, them, or any of them, shall and will forever defend by these presents. Received on the date of the date above written, the written indenture of the above Frederick HAUCK, the full consideration money above mentioned, for Henry LANDIS. On the 30th day of April AD1814, before me, one of the justices of the Peace, in and for the County of Chester, came the above named Henry LANDIS an Mary his wife, and severally acknowledged the above written indenture as and for their Act and Deed, and desired that the same might be recorded as such according to Law. She the said Mary LANDIS being of full age, separate and apart from her said husband, and by me examined and the full contents thereof made known to her voluntarily consenting thereto.
