All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/lancaster/ _______________________________________________ Pension Application Of Henry Ament, National Archives Microseries M804, Roll __, Application #S22085 Lancaster County, Pennsylvania On this 20th day of August, 1832, personally appeared in open court before the Court of Common Pleas of Lancaster County, Henry Ament of Strasburg Township, Lancaster County, state of Pennsylvania, aged about 85 years: I was born in York County, Pennsylvania on the 24th of October 1847. I enlisted for six months at Lancaster County in Pennsylvania, in Captain Graeff’s company, Colonel Cunningham’s battalion of Flying Camp. We marched from Lancaster, the place of our enlistment to Philadelphia, proceeded from thence through Trenton to Princeton, from thence to Elizabethtown Point and Long Island, and on the 27th of August, was in the battle of that place. We then returned to New York and was in it on the 15th of September when it was taken by the British. After frequent maneuvering, we proceeded to White Plains and was there in battle on the 28th of October. We then crossed over to Fort Washington and marched to Brunswick in the Jerseys where we were in battle. After leaving Brunswick we marched to Princeton where our term of service expired and we returned to Lancaster. After I had served out my time of six months, I received my discharge dated February 8th, 1777 and signed by my captain, George Graeff. For my discharge, see Philip Meek’s application. Henry Ament Lancaster County, Pennsylvania On this 20th day of August, 1832, personally appeared before the Court of Common Pleas in open court, Philip Meek, who being sworn according to law, deposeth and saith: That he was well acquainted with Henry Ament, the foregoing petitioner. That the said henry enlisted with this deponent for six months in the month of June, 1776 in captain Graeff’s company of flying camp and served out his full term, as by him stated, and that his captain George Graeff gave but one discharge for us both, as we enlisted at the same time and departed together.
