October 13, 1813 Will be offered for Sale at Public Vendue Monday 15, November next the following property late of James Armor, deceased to wit, Plantation know as the Mariner's Compass, on the old road leading from Philadelphia to Lancaster, nineteen miles and a half from the latter. The situation is land if not superior to any in the county for public business; a store and stables have been kept on it for many years. The plantation contains 143 ½ acres; 20 acres of which are meadows of first quality, well watered and more may be made. The land is in a high state of cultivation and the whole premises are excellent order. The terms will be made known at the time and place of sale. December 21, 1813 "On Tuesday, 11th day of January next on the premises that old well established stand, Known as the name of the "Mariner's Compass" together with the plantation attached, situated in Pleque, on the Old Philadelphia and Lancaster road, 19 miles from Lancaster." Same date Robert Armor is mentioned as Inn Keeper at the Mariner Compass. (Her Son-in-law) In this second notice additional details: The house is large and commodious with five rooms upon each floor, there are two wells, one with a pump, two apple orchards. January 14, 1814 Signed: Margart Armor ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: In Margaret Armor's administration letters a letter dated October 13, 1824 from her daughter Nancy Armor states: "Whereas my late Mother Margaret Armor Dec'd Intested so for as Respects Executors Whereby the Right of the administration of the Estate of the deceased is Just given in right to her children the decreased left two sons and two daughters one of her sons lives in New Orleans the other in the state of Ohio and her other Daughter lives near Pittsburgh and the said Nancy Armor is the only Child living here.
