(Lancaster, Pa.) January 8, 1880 FRANKLIN AND MARSHALL - Opening of the Winter Term This Morning. At ten this morning the winter or middle term of the institutions at Franklin and Marshall college was formally opened. After the usual chapel services, consisting of the singing of a hymn, the reading of the scriptures and prayer, led by Rev. Dr. T. G. Apple, president of the college, Rev. E. V. Gerhart, D. D., of the theological seminary, delivered the opening address on "The Conflict Between Reason and Faith..."
