John Ableton, a respectable colored citizen of Peach Bottom, Lancaster Co., died 
last Thursday, aged 74 years.  He was one of the old landmarks of that place.  
John was born at Fanny's Gap, a local point on the river, named in honor of his 
mother who years ago sold cakes and pies to the rivermen and others.  The 
funeral of the old man took place Sunday, a large number of white people 
attending.  His remains were laid beside his mother who is buried in a woods 
near the river.
