The Estimable Wife of the Well-Known Master Carpenter Passes Away. Mrs. Hannah H. Beard, the estimable master carpenter of the Pennsylvania Railroad, died this morning at five minutes past eight o'clock. Death occurred at the apartments occupied by Mr. Beard on the second floor of the Brimmer building, No. 153 1/2 North Queen street. Pneumonia was the cause of Mrs. Beard's death. One week ago Friday Mrs. Beard was taken ill, and the attending physician pronounced the malady from which she was suffering as la grippe. Mrs. Beard had improved greatly, and no serious outcome of the disease was apprehended. During Monday Mrs. Beard suffered a relapse and was attacked with a chill. Pneumonia was developed and her condition became critical. A slight improvement was noticed on Friday, but about eight o'clock in the evening a change for the worse took place and all hopes of recovery were blasted. Deceased was born in Wilmington, Delaware. Her maiden name was Hannah H. Emons. Her unexpected death will be a great shock to her many friends and acquaintances. She was a most estimable lady, kind and gentle, and her death will be sincerely mourned by the community. Heartfelt sympathy is extended to the bereaved husband, in this, his hour of great affliction. Deceased is a sister of Charles Emons, foreman of carpenters, of Columbia; Mrs. Susan Smalley, of Cleveland, Ohio; Mrs. Randolph Flah, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Harrison Emons, of Philadelphia. Deceased leaves one daughter, Alice, wife of Lintner Hess, of Los Angeles, California. In the early part of October Mrs. Beard and Mrs. Charles Emons journeyed to California on a visit to Mrs. Hess. The ladies returned on December 15. Mrs. Beard was a devout member of the Duke street M. E. church. The funeral will take place on Tuesday afternoon from the church.
