Mrs. Sophia Bechtel, widow of the late Isaac Bechtel, died yesterday forenoon at 10 o'clock, at the residence of her son-in-law, Samuel Gelsinger, near Black Horse, after a lingering illness from consumption, in the 78th year of her age. Deceased was born and raised in the vicinity of Swamp. She was housekeeper for Rudolph Gunkle, of this borough, for a period of five years and up to about six weeks ago, when she took up her residence with her daughter. Mrs. Bechtel was a consistent member of the German Baptist denomination, and leaves a large circle of friends ot mourn her departure. She is survived by four children, as follows: Elias Bechtel, of this borough; John, of Lebanon; Sallie, wife of Samuel Gelsinger, of Black Horse, and Susan, wife of John Mast, of Ashland. The surviving brothers and sisters are Franklin Leicey, of Akron; Daniel and Benneville Leicey, of Denver; Mrs. Mary Foltz, of near Myerstown; Mrs. Susanna Slabach, of Stevens, and Miss Sallie Leicey, of Denver. The funeral will be held on Monday forenoon at 9.30 o'clock from the house, with services and interment at Denver. Revs. Isaac Keller and S. Schweitzer will officiate.
