SAMUEL BINKLEY. The Well-Known Miller Dies at Salunga. A large portion of the people of Lancaster city and county are prostrated with the prevailing epidemic, and the numerous deaths which have been reported as caused by the influenza have sent hosts of the timid ones to physicians, who are called on at all hours of the day and night to attend patients - suffering frequently as much mentally as physically. Another death directly due to la grippe occurred on Monday at Salunga. The victim was the well-known miller and farmer, Samuel Binkley. For a week or more he had been suffering with a severe cold, from which on Saturday he appeared to have fully recovered. Sunday, influenza of a virulent character seized him, the first symptoms being great pain in his bones and the calves of his legs. The disease developed very rapidly, and on Monday afternoon resulted in his death. He was sixty-eight years old. There survive him a wife and five sons - Henry, John, William, Samuel and Harman. Mr. Binkley for twelve years operated the Abbeyville grist and merchant mill on the Columbia turnpike, one mile west of Lancaster, and prior to that the Pike Valley mill in East Hempfield township. For the past several years he has been residing at Salunga, where he followed the occupation of farming. While operating the above mills he cultivated an extensive acquaintance, and was universally respected for his many fine qualities and business integrity. The funeral will be held on Thursday morning, at 10 o'clock, from the house near Garber's mill at Salunga, at two o'clock, P.M., at Mountville, where interment will be made in the cemetery of the Brethren, of which denomination the deceased was a life long and consistent member.
