A Child Gives Laudanum to His Baby Brother. Sheridan Bowers, two-year-old son of Anson Bowers, living near Springville, Salisbury township, died on Friday from the effects of a dose of laudanum. The poison was given to the child by a brother two years older, who did not know the nature of the drug. He got hold of the bottle containing the laudanum, gave it to the child and said nothing about it until it was too late to save the child's life. Dr. Miller was notified and when he arrived the infant was unconscious. He did everything possible for it, but he arrived too late to counteract the effect of the poison. An inquest has been deemed unnecessary, as the child who gave the poison is too young to be responsible. Lancaster Intelligencer, Saturday, March 13, 1897
