James Breneman, a native of this city, well and favorably known here, died at his home in Dayton, Ohio, on Sunday morning, in the 47th year of his age. He was here on a visit during the Christmas holidays and left for home on January 6, suffering from an attack of "la grippe." He grew worse after reaching home, but letters received up to Saturday were encouraging. A dispatch received on Sunday announced his death. Mr. Breneman was a son of the late Philip K. Breneman, and his brothers are Frank H. Breneman, cashier of the Lancaster County National Bank, Charles A. Breneman, of the Farmers' National Bank, and Edward Breneman, of Dayton. He was educated in the public schools of this city and in 1867 went to Dayton, where he has since been engaged in the manufacture of agricultural implements. He was a member of the former firm of J. Lane Reed & Co. He was a fine tenor singer and a member of the choir of the Third Street Presbyterian church, Dayton. Whenever he paid his annual visits to Lancaster his voice was heard in the choir of the First Presbyterian church. He was married to Ella Brundrett, daughter of Dr. Brundrett, of Dayton, and she survives him. Of genial disposition and exemplary character, his death will be deeply regretted by many friends here. The funeral will take place in Dayton, to-morrow. The Lancaster Daily Examiner, Monday, January 20, 1890 DIED. BRENEMAN. January 19, 1890, at Dayton, Ohio, James Breneman, formerly of this city.
