He Was a School Director for 21 Years and Also a County Auditor. Franlin K. Curran, one of the best known men in the county, died on Wednesday evening at 8 o'clock at his home, in Marietta. He was in failing health for several years from infirmities incident to advancing age and was blind for eleven years. He was 78 years of age and lived in Marietta from his birth to his death. Mr. Curran was a Democrat in politics and was one of the leaders in that section of the county. He served as a school director for twenty-one years, a greater portion of which time he was secretary of the board. He served one term as the Democratic county auditor and some years later his son, Brice Curran, was elected to the same position. Mr. Curran took an active interest in the affairs of his native borough, was held in high esteem and was very popular, being elected school director as a Democrat several times when the borough was strongly Republican. He was one of the charter members of Donegal lodge of Odd Fellows. His wife and these children survive: Elizabeth, married and living in Philadelphia; Miss Ella, James and Brice, of Marietta, and Frank and George, of Philadelphia. His funeral takes place on Saturday at 4 o'clock. IN ANOTHER SECTION OF THE PAPER: DEATHS. CURRAN. – In Marietta, on the 11th inst., Franklin K. Curran, aged 78 years. The relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from his late residence, in Marietta, on Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock. Interment at Marietta cemetery.
