(Lancaster, Pa.) 1864-1928: April 05 & 07, 1880 Jacob Effinger, a well-known saloon keeper and brewer, of this city, died at his residence, corner of South Queen and Vine streets, between 7 and 8 o'clock this morning, of inflammation of the lungs. Mr. Effinger was taken sick on Thursday and his death was therefore rather sudden. Deceased was born in Wurtemberg, Germany, and came to this city in 1847. He has been living at the place where he died since 1860, since which time he has been engaged in the brewing business. Mr. Effinger was by trade a cabinet maker and pattern maker, at which trades he worked for some time during his residence here. He was the father of ten children, seven of whom, two daughters and five sons, are living. In politics Mr. Effinger was a Democrat. He was a popular man and had a great many friends. At the time of his death he was in his 60th year. The funeral takes place on Wednesday. The interment at Zion cemetery.
