Frailey Dies; Druggist 56 Years in Same Location Victim of Heart attack at 82; Began As Pharmacy Clerk In 1876 William O. Frailey, 82, proprietor of Frailey's Drug store at King and Shippen streets for the past 56 years, died suddenly Sunday morning at his home, 335 E. Orange St. Dr. A. V. Walter, county coroner, said death was due to a heart attack. Mr. Frailey was found at 12:40 p.m. Sunday by his grandson, C. Milton Frailey, who went to his grandfather's home to take him to the home of his son, William O. Frailey, Jr., for dinner. Mr. Frailey was the son of the late Henry L. and Frances Steiner Frailey. He started his career in a drug store in 1876 when he entered the employ of William T. Wylie at 116 N. Queen St., as apprentice. He served under Mr. Wylie for two years and then under John R. Kauffman, who purchased the Wylie store in 1878. Mr. Frailey then entered the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy from which he was graduated in 1882. He returned to Lancaster and clerked for Mr. Kauffman until 1885 when he purchased the Burger Pharmacy at King and Shippen streets, the site of the present store. In 1884 Mr. Frailey joined the Lancaster County Pharmaceutical Association and shortly after opening his store became a member of the State Pharmaceutical Association. He took an active part in the local organization. In 1888 he purchased the building he occupied. In 1901 Mr. Frailey was elected chairman of the Executive Committee of the Pennsylvania Pharmaceutical Association of which he became president in 1903 and was elected Honorary Life Member. In 1901 he was affiliated with the American Druggist Syndicate and was elected member of the Board of Directors. In 1907 he was elected President and presided over the annual meeting held that year in Madison Square Garden, New York City. Mr. Frailey was an ardent fisherman, and seldom missed the opening days of the trout and bass seasons. He is survived by three children, William, Jr., who in 1908 graduated from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy with the degree of Doctor in Pharmacy and entered the store with his father; Henry L. and Frances M., all of this city. He is also survived by one sister Anna, wife of G. Edward Fleisher of this city; eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
