Samuel H. Hughes, eighty-nine, 1622 Sycamore Ave., Eden West, died today at 1:05
a.m. in the Lancaster Osteopathic Hospital after an illness of one month. Born
in Armstrong County, a son of the late David and Margaret Reed Hughes, he
resided in Harrisburg before' moving to Lancaster two and one half years ago. He
was a retired investigator for the State Revenue Department, after 25 years
service. He was a veteran of the Spanish-American war. Surviving are a daughter.
Miss Margaret S. Hughes, Washington, D.C.; a son, Thomas J. Hughes, with whom he
resided: and two grandchildren. He was the last of his immediate family.
