Heagey The following is taken from the Lititz Record, of January 13, '99. The funeral of Isaac W. Heagey, which took place here last Sunday afternoon at 2:30, was one of the largest Lititz has seen for many years. The deceased was so well known and so popular that his many friends were desirous of seeing the last sad rites performed over the one whom they parted so sorrowfully with, and the occasion was a sad one indeed. At the house Rev. C. L. Moench, Moravian, spoke a few words, after which the mourners followed the corpse to the Moravian church, where it was viewed by hundreds of people in the corpse-house. In the church the Y.M.C.A. chorus opened the services by singing "Some Sweet Day," after which Rev. F. C. Hullhorst, German Reformed, of Ephrata, delivered a sermon, followed by Rev. Moench, in an earnest and affecting discourse. After Rev. Moench closed the Y.M.C.A. sang "The Beautiful Land." The funeral cortege then passed to the Moravian cemetery. Mr. Heagey died shortly after 6 o'clock a.m. Thursday, the 5th inst., at his home in Lititz. For several years he has been ailing with bronchitis and an attack of grippe caused his sudden death, at the age of 28 years, 9 month and 7 days. He came to this county from Adams county about 10 years ago and was engaged as a teacher of Webster school, in Elizabeth township. After teaching several terms he went to Philadelphia, where he was engaged as superintendent in a manufacturing establishment. Failing health compelled him to abandon that occupation, when he returned to this locality and became teacher of Lookout school, in Warwick, which he taught one term. He married Miss Ella M. Long, of Warwick, in Feb., '92 and one son of nearly five years of age is the result of their union. The deceased was born at Table Rock, Adams county, and was a son of Jacob and Rebecca Heagey, who, with his three sisters and three brothers, survive. Gettysburg Compiler, January 24, 1899
