Third Ave., died at 2.45 p. m. yesterday, Jan. 6, 1977, at the Valley View Home, after an extended illness. Mr. Hoffman retired Jan. 9, 1955, from the Pennsylvania Railroad as a machinist with 50 years service. He was born June 23,1886, in Lancaster, a son of Franklin W. and Susan Ann (McIllhenny) Hoffman, and married Ruth Irene Henry on Aug. 26, 1915. Mrs. Hoffman died Dec. 23, 1976. Surviving are three children, Robert L. of Dresden, N. Y., and Mrs. Miriam Kempf and Charles H. of Altoona; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Mr. Hoffman was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church, Mountain Lodge, F&AM, Jaffa Temple, Mountain Commandery Knights Templar, and Harrisburg Consistory. Friends will be received in the Mauk and Yates Funeral Home, Juniata, from 4 to 9 p. m. today and 10 a. m. to 2 p. m. tomorrow. Altoona Mirror, January 6, 1977
